York Women’s Counselling was established in 2000 with the mission of ensuring that talking therapies and support are available to women in the York area, when they need it, for as long as they need it and regardless of their ability to pay. Our work is ever more relevant in these times when mental health difficulties are on the rise for so many reasons, with women being disproportionately affected.

Over the past two years YWCS has undergone a transformation of our processes and expansion of our services and we were proud to receive the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service this year (2024) in recognition of our work. 

Now we are seeking to expand our friendly and active Trustee team to ensure we maintain and augment  the current strengths of our Board.  We therefore like to invite applications from women who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Fundraising, including grant writing and organising community fundraising activities, corporate sponsorship

• Finance, budgeting and reporting

• Communications, including experience and skill in using IT

• Operations management including HR

Of course, if there are other ways in which you can contribute to our important work, we’d love to hear from you.  We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated women from a wide variety of backgrounds with the skills, experience, energy and time to commit.

Through a combination of strategic insight and support for our staff team, you can help us further build our services and provide good governance so that more women can receive the support that they need and deserve.
