York Women’s Counselling Service 2024 AGM
The York Women’s Counselling Service (YWCS) hosted its Annual General Meeting on November 12, 2023, at the Priory Street Centre.
The meeting celebrated a year of growth and transformation for YWCS, highlighted by its recent transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Chair of Trustees, Susie Braithwaite, expressed gratitude for the tireless efforts of staff, volunteers, and counsellors, emphasising their role in delivering quality counselling services during a challenging financial year.
A standout achievement of the year was a £23,600 fundraising boost from the Civic Party, which will support the organisation's mission in the coming year. YWCS also welcomed a new Director, Ruth Linton, and a new Office Administrator Debbie Miller, who will be joining us in January.
YWCS’s financial report, presented by Chair-Designate Anjelica Finnegan, detailed a deficit of £9,500 due to unforeseen challenges, including changes to staffing. However, with a robust three-year financial plan and new funding streams, the service is poised for sustainability.
The AGM also featured a presentation on the innovative "Ways to Wellbeing" project, led by Stef Bricklebank, which supports women navigating menopause. The project has garnered positive feedback and aims to expand its impact through NHS collaboration and community partnerships.
YWCS expressed appreciation for the unwavering support of its stakeholders and volunteers. Attendees were encouraged to review the YWCS Impact Report for a deeper insight into the organisation’s activities and successes over the past year.
