About the Event

This thought-provoking evening will bring together frontline professionals, therapists, researchers, and community leaders for a meaningful conversation on vicarious harm, how it manifests, how we carry it, and how we can build resilience together as a community.

You’ll hear from a diverse panel of speakers with deep expertise across trauma, structural violence, and organisational wellbeing:

Professor Victoria Canning: Criminology expert on systemic violence and research ethics

Dzmitry Karpuk: Systemic & Family Psychotherapist, specialist in trauma recovery

Mags Godderidge: CEO of Survive, leading trauma-informed organisational practice

What You’ll Gain

Insightful Dialogue: Explore the intersections of systemic harm, professional burnout, and secondary trauma

Real-World Perspectives: Hear directly from practitioners working at the frontlines of care and advocacy

Community & Reflection: Connect with others in the field, with time for Q&A and post-event reflection

We’ll also be offering a wellbeing space during the event and an optional debrief session afterward for those who’d like to process in a supportive setting.

This event is open to counsellors, social workers, researchers, students, frontline workers, and anyone interested in the emotional impact of care work.  It represents two hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training.
