International Women’s Day 2022
International Women’s Day - March 8th - is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the positive impact that women can have on each other around the world. This week, as we see the images and hear the testimony of so many courageous and resilient Ukrainian women, fighting to protect their families and freedom, we inevitably reflect upon the tremendous fortitude, strength, and resourcefulness that women bring to their communities.
For 2022, IWD specifically calls for us to take action for equality – to #BreakTheBias, forge empowerment for women and to envision a world that is diverse, inclusive and equitable for everyone.
At YWCS, we understand that strength sits alongside vulnerability, and that crisis and distress can lead to emotional trauma. This can be particularly pronounced for women who are disempowered, excluded and experiencing discrimination. Although YWCS is not a campaigning organisation, our very existence is aimed at challenging the difficulties that women can face in accessing support. As such, we strive to deliver a high quality counselling service to the women of York, so that women can overcome adversity and move forward in their lives. Our incredible team of professional counsellors provides this service for as long as is needed, regardless of ability to pay.
To coincide with International Women’s Day, we are delighted to be able to take part in the Women and Girls Big Give Fund, where all donations to YWCS will be doubled (between 8th March and midday on 15th March) and will therefore have twice the impact. A gift of any size - whether £5 or £500 - will help us to continue to deliver our life-changing counselling work.
We are an organisation run by women for women. Our mission is to support and empower, and our vision is that no woman is ever turned away from our service. To read more about our ethos and the way we work, please see https://yorkwomenscounselling.org/
