Would you like to get involved to support women in  York?

How about becoming a trustee of York Women's Counselling Service?

If you’re looking for a fulfilling role where you can use your skills, experience, and creativity for real impact in the York community then this is the opportunity for you.

York Women’s Counselling Service are providers of low-cost counselling support for women experiencing problems as a result of emotional stress or trauma. We are seeking enthusiastic

women from the private, public or charitable sector who would like to join our present trustees to help guide and support our team.

By contributing your time, skills and experience, you will help us create new opportunities to expand our work, reaching more women in need and offering an ever more effective service in our local community.

This year YWCS is proud to have been selected as one of the Mayoral Charities by Rt Hon Lord Mayor of York, Reverend Councillor Chris Cullwick.  The year is packed with opportunities and we are particularly looking for women with skills in:

  • Communications and marketing

  • Digital creativity

  • Social media and website development

Of course, we welcome applications from women with experience in funding, counselling and data analysis and more.  As we look to strengthen and diversify our Board, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from first-time trustees and from people with backgrounds and personal experiences not currently represented on the board, including women with disabilities and from Black, Asian and other minoritised and under-represented ethnic backgrounds.

YWCS is a small and friendly charity whose people value working together and supporting each other. The trustees maintain close ties with our staff and the counsellors, and our work is guided by our core values and approach to wellbeing.

YWCS is committed to the professional development of our trustees. As well as being given a full induction, you will be encouraged to take up training opportunities that benefit you and the YWCS community.
